I am Sheng Zhou. This is my personal website to share my thoughts and projects.

I am a R&D enginner in an audio equipment company in the day and work on my own projects at night. Most of my other time, I like thinking and learning, mostly from video and audio contents. I am largely influenced by Dr. Jordan Peterson , who literally initiated my Humanities education. He lets me understand how little I knew about myself and the world. I believe his contribution to human race will only be fully recognized when enough people understand the wisdom he spread through his book and lecture "Maps of Meaning".

Back to myself, I download the audio of the "Maps of Meaning" lecture of Jordan on my phone so that I can listen to it when I am commuting. With wireless earbuds, I really enjoy learning in this way, but soon realized that if I want to really go deep into the material, to think along, to get most out of my listening, I need a better way to control the audio at my will. I don't want to hold the phone in my hands all the time, I also hate pushing my earbuds to pause the audio. But I want to control the information flow like I do when reading a book so that I can learn effectively through complex/meaningful contents like Jordan offered us. After some study, I realized that to make a smart jewelry ring with such a function is possible. so I started my project on FocalRing. With the prototypes I made, I am enjoying the benefits of such a tool every single day, but I also wish it can help others to release their learning potential through audio contents, so I am working hard to promote this project and at the same time work on mass production of FocalRing.
